Call for projects for Public Design Festival edition 2011 (deadline January, 31st)
We call young designers, architects and project makers from all over the world to submit ideas, projects, solutions and services to work on public space in our city.
After two editions of Duepercinque Competition, the call for projects for Public Design Festival changes its structure. We are not asking for parking lot- size projects anymore (2x5mt), we are looking for site specific projects, to distribute all over the city of Milan, from the city centre to the suburbs. Services, urban furniture and solutions for a better quality urban living. We are looking for projects that may last after the event.
We will concentrate on four main areas of town that we wish to shape with public interventions:
- in Garibaldi, the big empty space of Cavalcavia Bussa
- in Lambrate the unfriendly places near the station and the biggest sheltered open space in town, under the bridge of the ring road in Via Rubattino
- in Porta Romana the open spaces of Cascina Cuccagna, a farmstead from the 18th century in the city centre of Milan
- the square in front of Cadorna Railway Station, heart of the city, place where the audience of Salone del Mobile can meet the people of Milan
